“Arctic Dreams” by Barry Lopez
Arctic Dreams won a National Best Book Award in 1986 and is one of the best books I have ever been fortunate enough to be turned onto. Arctic Dreams is an important book, especially in this age of shrinking polar caps, global warming and increased pressure on our northern frontiers. It’s a perfect “trip-book” ideal for those long international flights and restless nights before fly fishing sorties begin. - Pjp
“Over the Edge of the World” Magellan’s Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Globe by Laurence Bergreen
This book details the epic journey of Magellan’s discovery of the new route to the Pacific in exciting and well written prose. The hardships these new-world explorers endured is mind boggling. If you are traveling to South America, Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego or Antarctica this is an important book to read and will give you a good feeling of how raw this land is, was when first navigated. – pjp
“The Last Cowboys at the End of the World”is a book written by Nick Redding. Nick was a fishing guide for Rex Bryngelson owner of La Posada de los Farios a remote back country fly fishing in Chile, Patagonia.
The book is a great read and gives you an inside look of the local people that call this back-in-time world their home. We have a few copies here at the Shop for sale if you are interested. I highly recommend the book. – pjp
